Bradley F. Thompson, M.D.

Dr. Thompson is board certified in both PM&R and ABEM and has a split assignment between the Mayo Clinic in Rochester and Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Owatonna. His clinical focus is in musculoskeletal, spine, amputee and neuromuscular disease. Specific services he provides include, 1) the diagnosis of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular disease, 2) patient education and referral recommendations, 3) treatment / management of pain, functional impairment and sports injuries.

  • Conservative management of musculoskeletal disorders, including osteoarthritis (spine & extremities), tendinopathy
  • Conservative management of neuromuscular disorders, including cervical and lumbar radiculopathy, spinal stenosis
  • Neurologic rehabilitation, including stroke, spinal cord injury and spasticity
  • Functional restoration / prosthetic management following limb loss, including hereditary, upper and lower extremity amputations
  • Promoting patients' understanding of the underlying causes of their musculoskeletal or neurologic symptoms
  • Educating and empowering patients to become partners in managing their symptoms

In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Thompson is active in clinical research (including several multidisciplinary collaborative studies within the amputee clinic and the spine center), the education of residents and medical students and volunteering (including as an oral examiner for the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation for the past 5 years).
