Your Mayo Clinic care team

Your treatment team for skull base tumors may include a neurosurgeon, an otolaryngological surgeon, a radiation oncologist, a neuro-oncologist and other experts. Together they work with you to develop an individualized treatment plan. Test results are reviewed by a large, multidisciplinary tumor board of experts to discuss the optimum plan of care. You receive comprehensive care for the diagnosis and treatment of your condition, with access to in-depth counseling, unbiased review of all available treatment options, follow-up care and rehabilitation.

Advanced diagnosis and treatment

Mayo Clinic experts combine several sophisticated techniques to provide an advanced approach to endoscopic skull base surgery. These innovations, available at all three Mayo Clinic campuses, enhance the precision of complex skull base surgeries.

These surgical innovations are used to treat several types of skull base tumors, including pituitary tumors, meningiomas and clival tumors. These techniques include:

• Image guided and intraoperative CT.
• 3D endoscopy.
• Simulations that combine endoscopic surgery and proton beam therapy.

Mayo Clinic experts also can create holographic images and 3D models of the tumor prior to surgery, which provides improved presurgical planning.
